Carl Sagan: A Universe Not Made For Us
I know that many of us desperately want the universe to not be so seemingly cold and uncaring. Talking about our world from a scientific point of view can, for some, make things seem pointless but as Mr. Sagan points out it doesn't need to be that way. Why can't we find awe and wonder in the vastness of the reality that we actually live in?
Personally I think that the true world (the world that science strives to describe) is much more fantastic and comforting than any religious myth that has ever been told to me. Why? Because a universe that isn't custom built for just us seems much more challenging and interesting. In the religious version of the universe we were supposed to just shut up, stay stupid and live in our ignorant bliss.... kind of like a house cat. In addition because we are not the end all be all reason for the universe so much more is possible. It breaks the bubble and expands the realm of the possible out infinitely.
So don't shy away from viewing the world with an empirical eye. Embrace it!

We must destroy Iran.
First off, we are going to turn a blind eye to the fact that we created the current hot mess that is the incredibly, religiously, bat shit crazy nation of Iran. We don't have time for that discussion here but we need to act against Iran for another reason. NOW!
They have finally done it. No I'm not talking about the crushing theocracy, or the nuclear program, or their support of terrorism, or the way they suppress the freedoms of the people. What they have just done is so abhorrent that I can barely bring myself to type about it. They.... the Islamic Republic of Iran..... have outlawed...... the mullet.
This can not stand. What is next? The kid and play? The Avalon? We must destroy Iran before they can spread their anti-mullet mantra in the same way they spread their religious (and therefore automatically retarded and hateful) BS.

(These are all ok)
As reported by CNN Iran has issued guidelines for proper male grooming and the biggest casualty is the greatest doo of all. Soon our redneck wannabe rebel brothers in Iran will no longer to rock these type of mega awesome quaffs. This can not stand. What is next? The kid and play? The Avalon? We must destroy Iran before they can spread their anti-mullet mantra in the same way they spread their religious (and therefore automatically retarded and hateful) BS.
Here comes the electric car!...... again?!
I'm not an electrical engineer, I'm not any kind of engineer, I'm not even what most would call a "smart man" so I usually keep my head down when it comes to the technical sides of issues but I've been fascinated with electric cars. I've been hoping for the electric car to reappear and now it might. Remember the EV1? Check out http://whokilledtheelectriccar.com/ if you don't. FYI great documentary.
It has seemed for years that the only thing standing in the way of the electric car (besides big oil) was the need for someone to come up with a way to quickly recharge an electric car. Apparently that day has finally arrived. According to an article on www.crunchgear.com a Japanese company called JFE Engineering has developed a method to recharge the batteries of electric vehicles by 50% within 3 minutes and 80% within 5 minutes. Wow! This could be a massive breakthrough for the viability of the electric car. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
